Automobiles in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report
Local Police
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
